Scottsdale, Arizona
Submitted by Judy on Sat, 08/25/2007 - 17:02.It's easy for me to talk about Scottsdale, as I have lived here for over 20 years. With art galleries and wine tasting events in the touristy old-town, and Desert Ridge up north with live bands, restaurants galore, and lots of misters to keep you cool on those hot summer nights, Scottsdale has offerings for people of all ages with varied tastes.
Restaurants
We fell in love with Capital Grill, where we dined on our wedding night in Las Vegas. And, we couldn't have been more delighted when they opened on up on Frank Lloyd Wright, less than a 10-minute drive from our home. Scottsdale is also home to Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Chart House, Eddie V's, and The Roaring Fork, to name a few.
Weather
If you're going to visit, winter is the obvious choice of season to arrive.

Don't come in August!! The rain this weekend will help us bring the 110 degree temperatures down to the high nineties....and it's not a dry heat in August!! ;)
Wildlife
This is probably my favorite part of living in the desert. There is a wash area, with a scenic path for walkers and joggers, right outside our backyard. While we share the inside of our home with two cats, a hotot bunny, an African Grey, and one tetra, our extended family outside includes many squirrels, rabbits, prairie dogs, a critter that keeps digging holes in our yard ;), coyotes, owls, roadrunners, quail, and at least 6 Peach-faced lovebirds. YES! We have lovebirds living in the wild right here in the desert. I've included a recent photo that we took. They're getting more and more used to us each day, and they love feeding on our seed blocks and drinking from our bird bath fountain.
Summary
In all, Scottsdale is a wonderful place to live, and I would recommend a visit to anyone who has not yet experienced our beautiful city.
